Description:

Responsible for the technical sales support activities associated with Class 1 freight railroads and sales support activities. The position will require detailed involvement and coordination with Wabtec sales staff in the Freight Group and all sales activities with the current commuter locomotive sales efforts. This person will provide the vision, strategy and supporting market data to grow the product sales both domestically and internationally. This person will report to the VP of Sales and Marketing and substantially be responsible for two specific areas: 1) Freight sales and associated activities - Market data and analysis; customer specific strategy for freight sales (a) Gen set switchers (b) Single engine switchers (c) Overhaul and remanufacture work; Sales technical support and presentations to Class 1 accounts.

Requirements:

Engineering education or substantial technical background and aptitude through sales experience is a must. History of successful technical and sales involvement specifically with locomotives and locomotive control systems. Knowledge of market studies and qualification of markets for performance based products. Ability to create and debate value propositions for products that increase efficiency in transportation. Will have full responsibility for "championing" both the aftermarket service and Freight Locomotive sales and provide for proper handling of all requests for pricing, proposals, and any queries related to the opportunity including, but not limited to; working with proposals and estimating to assure timely response, coordination of other departments and groups to achieve maximum sales potential, provide technical expertise and guidance to other sales associates and support functions, make presentations to management on strategies for increased sales and product growth, integrate product market data with Product Development staff, assure all possible opportunities for developing and sustaining competitive advantages.

Must be a team player and be able to constructively work with all levels of MPI management to help develop the growth strategies for the business as well as to negotiate cooperation from any and all adjacent functions to help assure success. Must also provide inspiration for organizational harmony and will be measured by this cooperative effort and the growth and success of locomotive sales. Broad technical knowledge of locomotives and locomotive systems; understanding control systems and performance factors; individual contributor with team skills and leadership ability; articulate person capable of sales and technical presentations; ability to inspire others to reach new objectives.
